Yes I said he is an ''asshole''. might be a clever dick in certain areas but politically he is dumb as they come, or should that really read 'DILETTANTE'. However, Plaid ditched out on Nationalism to be a reformist cultural pacifist party with theory and strategy that can be changed as frequently as wished to suit time and place (see Plaid on Fox Hunting, Nuclear Free Wales and Windmills etc). A party appealing to one and all has for many years been open to all forms of 'DILETTANTISM'. so that it now gets egg on it's face is not spilled milk I will cry over. Just surprises me that Plaid in constituency concerned has not organised a Petition to get 'Asshole Ashgar' out of Welsh Politics altogether. I am rather amazed that Cambria Magazine has not already got a petition on the go, they are very good at that sort of thing as example of their Investiture No! petition, by way what became of that? Considering that the Labour Party put a ban on folk standing on both the list and constituency for the Assembly, which is questionable... perhaps there is a better case for disallowing list AMs/MSPs from changing parties. While constituency AMs/MSPs/MPs are all elected on their personal merits (supposedly) rather than the party, list AMs/MSPs and MEPs are all elected for the party in question, a key distinction. Ashgar clearly saw Tory success in the Euro elections as being his meal ticket in the near future.Both PC and the SNP can claim to have selected the first Asian/Muslim representatives to the devolved legislatures though. I think an important point here is even if someone comes from either/both of these groups, it doesn't make them a good politician necessarily - e.g Mohammed Sarwar MP, Labour crook based in Glasgow. On the other hand, the SNP was lucky to have the late Bashir Ahmad, who was a genuinely pleasant and decent person that I had the privilege to meet in the Glasgow East run-up - he provided a decent counterpoint to the nutters who attacked Glasgow Airport. CILMERI COMMEMORATION 2009: A Patriotic Call For a LAND and LIBERTY Campaign.

This post outlines the conclusion to my short pre Cilmeri Commemoration contribution, in which I did some ranting populist rhetoric to remind that today one must now more so than ever before be of an Internationalist Welsh Republican position. It really is quite rediculous for those who even just consider themselves to be so called 'Welsh Republicans' to be attending an event that remembers a Welsh Aristocrat oblivious to fact that these Welsh Princes were land grabbers and had their own bond population that were as much oppressed and exploited by they as any English Serf by their own Kings. Being some what a 'Devils Advocate' here but within there are 'home truths' patriots need to keep in mind. Sure most of my adult life has been active in promotion of medieval Welsh history and it's commemoration but, to be honest I have been involved in such largelly for patriotic political reasons. As far as Cilmeri Commemoration is concerned my main interest has been in using it as an anti - Investiture and thus anti - English Monarchy platform but hence being mindful of the contradictions I shall move to other commemorative platforms to advance this much more Radical Internationalist Welsh Republicanism.

Sadly in recent years the Cilmeri Commemoration has drifted away from a sound anti - English Crown patriotic purpose, largelly via the sad pathetic alchaholic patriotism of ''Good Ole Boys'' (see Gareth ap Sion on Cilmeri in Cambria magazine of some years back) plus some careerism by crachach cronies and other such fence sitters and rediculous republicans who cannot make up their minds if they should be members of Cymdeithas yr Iaith or Plaid Cymru as often as not. However, it seems as if this years Rali Cilmeri owes it's successful organisation more to Adam Phillips and Balchder Cymru than the opportunist Fforwm Hanes Cymru aka so called Welsh Battlefiels Society aka Abaty Cwm Hir Trust et al? So it just might get back on track and rediscover the Patriotic Plot it lost in recent years, we shall see? I have not had much time for BC in the past but when 'push came to shove' they were more up for protest against Investitures than silly petitioning, as per Cambria Magazine nonsensical ploys to garner more subscribers to their magazine. BC however, still has a long way to go before they are the 'Barrio Warriors' our country needs and deserves but they are getting there, slowly!

Just maybe considering all the poverty visited on the poor and weak by corrupt regimes throughout the World, be they Capitalist or Communist, then just maybe our Welsh Causes could be a vanity? When one considers the millions killed in wars, not just in Iraq and Afghanistan but particularly in Africa, not least the Congo where in 10 years five million people have been killed in genocidal wars our problems are insignifigant. Then of course there is Darfur and many, many other countries and regions that are kept off the front pages by our over bloated self centred Western & Northern hemisphere liberal concerns or greedy consumerism and celebrity-ism fed to people constantly. Of course the British media is controlled media, so thankfully we can acess other World media, and become more aware than we would be other wise. As for our home media, that in Cymraeg is stuck in some Cymric grant funded never, never land whilst the English Language media is more and more in existence to be so banal and neutrally 'British' it's enough to make one vomit, give me the BBC World Service and even BBC Radio Four for better World Coverage than what comes out of BBC Wales and it's Sports Wales never, never land.

One cannot fail to see our own Cymric self centered cultural or other concerns as some what over self centered as regards 'more powers for the Assembly'. What? more powers to perhaps become more corrupted by family favouritism, regional clannishness plus the usual Taffia and Crachach lobbying and consultancies. Not least a Devolution Dilletantism that favours self careerism and personal economic advancement. In main made more possible because the people of Wales are ill served by it's media or suffer from being fed up with politics. The ''Masses'' not least the Welsh mini - masses are not even aroused into anger and thence radical action by the massive mess the Bankers put us all in, it seems that nothing can move the masses to action, other than advertizing which at moment is prompting them down to the nearest Super Market to fill their shopping trollies up with loads of Xmas goodies whilst most of the Worlds population are starving to death.

Unfortunatly it appears most of our people want no more than the X Factor, Jordan and lots of binge drinking hedonism and kicking heads in by a younger generation increasingly boozed and drugged up into being pathetically unconcerned about their own futures let alone that of their children and communities and country......... Quite a rant, of course I did not say all that at Cilmeri cenotaph, I have enlarged upon my thoughts as penning out this post, the main matter I spoke on was along the lines of what point Independence, if much of our land is still owned by Anglo - Norman Lords, native large estate land owners, if any left? and by continuing cheque book conquest and colonialism be it by capitalists or Green Imperialists with their 'Wind Milling' of Wales that makes profits from use of our land for Wind Mill Plantations by Foreign based companies.

Of course there is the British Army, Forestry Commission and Water Companies as well, to consider, they have a long history of expropriation of our land for their profits. The amazing thing is that Nationalists are not too concerned with all this unless culture and pacifism comes into it, but of course in main it is a Social and Economic matter central to the well being of our communities and people in the years ahead. All of which will be further deliberated more in due course in this blog but, in the mean time I hope my ranting gets you up to some Discussion and Debate on the matter, of course with purpose of stirring you into some really Radical Patriotic Action, maybe?

LAND & LIBERTY Lets Get Back To Basics! but beyond the usual and expected Cymru Cymraeg Concern of Land = Culture = Pacifism ???

Land Issues as regards ownership and use is a major part of Welsh History from 16th century period of the Reformation and the Tudor Gentry Land grab (see Forest of Snowdon Affair and troubles in Cwmwd Caio) to the 18th century period of Romantic Cultural Renaissance (see Before Rebecca on Enclosures etc) up to 1826 and Rhyfel Y Sais Bach and beyond to the Tithe Wars of the 1880's. In this long post medieval period, these land issues are very much about social and economic matters but in the 20th century land issues became central to the advance of Plaid Cymru and then such is dominanted by its cultural nationalist roots and later pacifist politics. Such is much seen in a splendid issue of Y Faner Newydd Rhif 21 Haf 2002 with a special feature on early Plaid Cymru Protests on land issues revolving around campaigns regards the use of land near Abergeirw during WW II up to 1948 for Military training by the English Army.

Later the protests at Abergeirw would evolve into Plaid Cymru protests against building of a Nuclear Power Station at Trawsfynydd, for much of it's existence Plaid Cymru has been not only a Cultural Nationalist Movement but also a Pacifist Party but recent support for a new Nuclear Power Station on Ynys Mon as kind of undone Plaid stance on a so called ''Neclear Free Wales''. In present times, some potential Plaid BGE candidates have been writing to Western Mail supporting 11 November Remembrances and of Welsh Soldiers in the British Army in Afghanistan, all very ambivalent to say the least.

In our own times Plaid Cymru land protests have in main been on seizure of Welsh Land to build Reservoirs to serve English Cities, as Vyrnwy, Elan and Clywedog but most famously Treweryn. One thing that has been consistent throughout has been the links between the Land Issue and the Welsh Language (threatened way of life etc) and much imbued with pacifism that found bombing campaigns by FWA and MAC against the building of reservoirs an anathema to Plaid's Cultural Pacifist Patriotism.

The above is highly interesting stuff, one can sympathise with the Plaid Cultural stand whilst having mixed opinions about the Plaid Pacifism, the important thing is to see a Nationalist Party leading a Nationalist Direct Action Movement. This is what we need more of, on a number of issues in Wales today and is something the Peoples Council in North East Wales will have to consider if their petition against the WAG Spatial Plan to sell out the North East to English domination from across the border fails.

I have all ready wrote of the growing need to consider the building up, based on Peoples Councils an all Wales MOVEMENT AGAINST COLONIALISM (see Adam Price recent talk to IWA on Wales a Colony). But I digress, back to my proposed LAND & LIBERTY CAMPAIGN, I take heart from Plaid Land Issue Campaigning in the past, but the one I propose, sets aside the pacifism although such campaign I envisage would be non - violent. However, taking aboard the Culture & Language, I see the campaign I am proposing be as much, if not more concerned with the matter of national & popular sovereignty plus issues that reflect Social and Economic concerns on a platform of Hand Back & Hands Off Welsh Land all most definitely under an Anti - Colonial Umbrella with a Banner that reads large SAY NO TO CHEQUE BOOK CONQUEST TOO!

MY INVESTITURE by Gethin ap Gruffydd Former General Secretary Patriotic Front, Imprisoned 1969 for Anti - Investiture Campaign Activity.

My Investiture day was spent in getting up, going for some exercise around the Swansea Jail prison yard, it was at this time some prisoner shouted down "two of your people have been killed", meaning the Abergele Martyrs. Rest of morning and most of the afternoon was spent in the dock at Swansea Crown Court awaiting sentence for basically motivating organisation of the Abergwesyn Training Camp, drafting FWA Oath and organisational plans, oh yes designing the uniform. I got sentenced to nine months but having served six only had another three to do, whilst FWA Commandants Cayo and Coslett got longer sentences. They were imprisoned for FWA "crimes" but myself, I have no doubt was in reality due to my Anti – Investiture Campaign organisational activities with the Anti – Investiture Campaign Committee. I guess my Investiture can be summed up by saying I spent two busy years organising and carrying out resistance to the Investiture and nine months in Jail for doing so. Investiture day, was spent in the dock, getting sentenced, then being whisked off to Cardiff Prison, stripped and put in prison uniform and slammed into a cell, in which I spent most of my three month sentence in 'solitary Confinement'.

This Jail time in Cardiff was made much easier to put up with as in due course I was allowed out to work in Prison workshop breaking up Telephones, made good time with Cayo along side telling me Irish and Welsh Folk tales and reciting the poetry of Robert Service to me. Of course, I had no chance of doing "runner" to Ireland, even so I would not have, if I had been free to do so, I would not be on the piss in Ireland but more up to creating Anti – Investiture Chaos on the Streets of Caernarfon. However, on release from Jail, it was made known to me that the Police might round me up again, so this time I did flee to Ireland and became an exile for two years. Not on the piss but getting a job and setting up home and being politically involved until the Irish SB told me that I would be sent back to Wales if I interfered in Irish Politics. By this time the Welsh SB had sent by records over to Ireland with a request to have me sent back, but at this time Anglo – Irish relations were breaking down due to the struggle breaking out in the North, and the Irish SB were not all that interested to do the bidding of the Brits. I guess I could go on about "My Investiture" but I would rather be more positive, and not look back but deal with the present as a warning for the future.

During July of this year we were witness to much attention given by the Welsh media to the 40th Anniversary of the 22nd English Prince of Wales, the press chose to focus on how great an English Prince of Wales he was and how much he had done for his Principality. The TV however, focused much on the militant MAC bombing campaigns which on the whole kind of presented a picture that only a minority of possibly "mad bombers" were opposed to this nice English Prince, affectionately called ‘Carlo’ by some of his subjects. Both media underplayed the much broader opposition of public patriotic protest and radical nationalist democratic, if somewhat militant demonstrations against the foisting upon Wales of another English Prince of Wales.

Totally ignored by the media was the fact that 2009 also marked the 40th anniversary of the so called FWA Trial at Swansea during the summer of 1969, this was preceded by the February 26th arrests of nine radical nationalist militants of the Free Wales Army and Patriotic Front, five of who were organisers of the Anti – Investiture Campaign Committee. Of they it was the three members of the Patriotic Front which were if anything the main Anti – Investiture Conspirators, they being the late Toni Lewis and Glyn Rowlands and myself Gethin ap Gruffydd. The reason why the media ignored this trial anniversary was, I have no doubt they were told or keen to do so, to show that opposition was minimal and of little mass impact. It being preferred to ignore the fact that the state had used undemocratic means to undermine any attempt of mobilising patriotic opinion, not least thwart plans for patriotic direct action demonstrating at Caernarfon on the forthcoming Investiture day of 1st July 1969.

This of course was greatly achieved by the above arrests causing the AICC to be greatly neutralised, then the SB/MI5 Shrewsbury based ‘Special Squad’ especially formed to terrorise nationalist opposition to the Investiture. This worked so wellthat some pathetic patriots as Roy 'Jac' Jones & Co fled the country, deserting by this act of cowardice those who were to remain behind to continue the struggle in and around Caernarfon on days leading up to and after Investiture day. Whilst two MAC Freedom Fighters died and two FWA Commandants were imprisoned, and myself PF/AICC also imprisoned. Let history well witness the names of those who ran away, a most blatant account of which can be found written by one of those deserters, in an article called ‘My Investiture’ by Roy Jones published not unsurprisingly in Cambria Magazine, issue no 2 Vol 11. This character and others mentioned were later awarded medals at a Rali Cilmeri by Denis Coslet one of the FWA imprisoned in1969.

Of course the way Denis during Y Cyfamodwyr Years at Rali Cilmeri, had turned something worthy into a big joke to say the least and demeaned totally the status of similar awards made to Patriots deservedly by FWA Commandant Cayo Evans in years shortly after the Investiture. I criticised Denis much in the "sixties" for his being out of control and not attempting to read from the same hymn sheet re plans for the Investiture. However, post 69 I grew to like Denis and have recently defended him from the Poison Pen Character assassination at hands of Lickspittle Journalist, ex editor of the Western Mail in the "sixties" John Humphries in his book Freedom Fighter, Wales’s Forgotten War. However, I cannot defend the way Denis tossed around medals at Rali Cilmeri during the years it came under the sway of Y Cyfamodwyr and perfectly pointless patriots as Roy ‘’Runner’’ Jones, Abergynolwyn’s‘’Aongy Aunt’’.

Having got that off my chest, but in the same vein, it is interesting to note that Rali Cilmeri, a platform of Anti – Investiture Campaign in 1968 in particular, 40 years later post Cyfamodwyr had come under the sway of a motley collection of Moderates, Careerists and Devolution Dilettantes and general followers of ‘Cambrianista’ Right Wing Nationalism or otherwise just plain "Good Ole Boy" fence sitting cowards. The majority however, in all fairness one might just as well describe as "Knee Jerking Super Patriots" with no serious political idea in their head at all, but boy do they like patriotic parading and petition signing. Thus when push comes to shove, this lot along with the other aforementioned patriotic prats, are more up for passive petition signing and not radical protest against English Princes of Wales. Neither are they it seems up to demonstrating really radical nationalist demonstration qualities, but more up to following the aforementioned "Runners" of 1969 in annual Rali Cilmeri and Dewi Day Parading. Thus when invited to participate in ‘Storming the Castle – Closing it Down’ anniversary gathering at Gate of Caernarfon Castle, none of this ilk or many other patriots who should have shown their colours but did not.

Other than patriots I have often criticised but were to show some real patriotic 'Street Cred'by making a stand at the Gate of Caernarfon Castle on 1 July 2009. The honour of some real, and I hope sustainable Patriotic Struggle was left to Balchder Cymru of the North Eastern March, surely our ‘’Barrio Warriors’’. So, when Investiture III looms up on the horizon don’t count on the 'Good Ole Boy Cowards of Cilmeri to be to the fore, they will more than likely do another runner to Ireland, or maybe will be safe in their graves by then? If I also happen to have passed over, I shall leave some of my creamated ashes are to be thrown at the Gate of Caernarfon Castle, some 1st July annual protest,or maybe tossed at the 23 English Prince of Wales as his carriage takes him to,the Castle for Investiture III. But who will be the Patriot then at this time brave enough to risk braving it into Caernarfon and be up for throwing my ashes? HHHhhhmmm!!! Don't all rush at once to put your name down for that possibly deadly bruising task?

To conclude Roy 'Runner' Jones makes out that there will be no third Investiture in Caernarfon, now trust me there will be ok! If there were not, it would have nothing to do with Abergynolwyn's 'Agony Aunt', he could not even complete the decapitation of a statue of the 1911 English Prince of Wales. But there, I do not want to slag 'Swansea Jac' off for that, at least he had a go. Since 1969, none of those many 'cultural nationalists' Aberystwyth students have so much has daubed this statue green. Whatever, main point is that yes there will be a third Investiture in Caernarfon and, even less patriots will oppose such unless those Patriots with guts and detirmination arise to resist the imposition of an English Prince upon our Country.

May Rali Cilmeri ever remain the focus of that Patriotic Resistance of real committed Anti - Investiture Struggle that if anyone is up for it, should be sustained hence. So please dear patriots do not listen to the 'Running Men' but trust to your own judgement on this most crucial of issues, for what good at all is Independance if the English Crown claims sovereignty over us, ain't that the truth! Think on it at this years Rali Cilmeri, just why do you go there? if it's not to consider more than just remembering 1282. I say remember 1911 and 1969, you may not stop a third Investiture but it's not just the possible winning against all odds that counts but how you fight not hide or run. Next time around, no one hides, dodges or runs off to Ireland, all patriots to Caernarfon, and if the authorities attempt stopping you going into the town to exercise the democratic right of being able to make patriotic protest, sit down in the street and make them arrest you, that will not look good on the world media will it!

Be at the Gate of Caernarfon Castle every year hence on 1st July, this really is more important than pathetic petitions and Dewi Day Parading in Caerdydd, leave the tame Taffies do that. You, the real hard and committed radical nationalists are required for real patriotic struggle not leek wearing and Welsh cake eating in a City that should not be considered our capital, such can only be Machynlleth, yes!

LAND and LIBERTY Campaign Against Colonial Expropriation of Welsh Territory; Past, Present and Future. NO TO CHEQUE BOOK CONQUEST TODAY.

This symbol I read having been used in Brittany in rural protests in our own times, so I have adopted for use as a badge for my proposed LAND & LIBERTY campaign. Re picture above I used a spray can to create effect of having been so used on a wall, but my purpose was to see how it might appear if sprayed on cloth for a flag. This I have done on green cloth and when I have taken fotos, I will post up on this blog for you to see the results.

However campaigns are not won by flags alone and, so let us begin with some history. We could begin with some knowledge of pre conquest native society and begin with a look into the Laws of Hywel Dda, later laws of the Welsh Princes and most importantly look into the 1284 Statutes of Rhuddlan - the charter of conquest 1282. But I hope you will know where to look up much of this yourself and, so more important I guide you into areas of history you are not so familiar with as The Forest of Snowdon Controversy 1569 - 98 and also in the 16th century the peasants Resistance to land enclosures in the cwmwd of Caio in Western Wales. For later history there is no better book than BEFORE REBECCA by David Jones, a must read, especially the early chapters on rural revolt. There will be other books and journal articles I shall post up information on but suffice for now to leave you with the words of the poet Sion Brwynog who in 1597 wrote in reference to the Forest of Snowdon Controversy:

NEWPORT RISING COMMEMORATION 1839 - 2009: Towards a Welsh Socialist Republican Charter Cymru?

I suggest those of a Welsh Republican mind within the National Movement are more likely to purposefully advance Welsh Republicanism at Newport in commemoration of 1839 than at Cilmeri Commemorating 1282. What's there to laugh about? a great shame really that WIP went into a melt down, as I thought at long last the Alternative Welsh Nationalist Movement had got it made up with some sensible success, but no down the dead end drain again. Is there anything up to replace it? I doubt it! Seems as if non Plaid Patriots want to become nothing else but 'FRINGE FACE BOOK FUSILIERS', more's the shame. Perhaps 'Castrol' is right after all, for career and personal self advancement and safty wise stick with PLAID and only drink with the 'Fringe Folk' aka ''Good Ole Boys'' et al. Not least at the annual Rali Cilmeri, even though he says he's a staunch Republican, not a 'Fascist' as he considers some patriots to be, and whom he likes to film to prove some point to please his egotiscal belief in his own political devolution dilettantism? What's that got to do with this post? nothing! just though I would have a go, as a winding warm up ready for Rali Cilmeri 2009. More to come!!! Came across the above news cutting in my archive the other day, I believe Roy 'Jac' Jones (Im'e off to Ireland mate!) sent it to me at time WIP fell apart. If I remember correctly Nawie had upset him and he thought 'Humph' was a tyrant? Problem is that the copy sent was reduced and I can hardly read the print, especially the bit with Dewi Prysors foto (Jasus he's looking dead serious) prominant. So I have no clue where he fits in to all this but otherwise, I can just manage to make out that the bust up had to with one of their national council being in touch with the Northern League in Italy. To which other members took an acception, so I looked on the web for further enlightenment on the WIP bust up without much luck. Then whilst out of curiosity did some googling on the look out for the Northern League and came up with this film recently made about Babarossa and how the Northern League is so using to their advantage. Don't know about the Northern League but the film looks bloody good. See links below:

Fills my head with the notion of setting up in Wales a Silurian 'Southern League', to campaign for the repatriation of all those Goglander Crachach Economic migrants busy establishing their 'Pontcanna Patagonia' in Kerdiff. PATAGONIA LIBRE! or Don't Cry For Me Patagonia! The Conquest of the Desert and the Welsh Settlement of Chubut.

My brother recently returned from Latin America and brought me back this book 'City of Angels', an excellent study in cemetery sculptures. Why I place info on it in this post will become self evident in due course. There is much patriotic anxiety about of late as to fate of two Patagonian Girls being refused entry and right to stay in Wales, I join in the patriotic protest, and am quite happy to publish the appeal below.

This particularly exercises me, as having worked for many years in London in the catering industry, I am fully aware that young Brazilians have cornered the Waiter and Waitress trade in many up market catering establishments, that's alright by me, but how do they manage to make life and living in the British Isles when not Commonwealth or European Empire subjects. Of course it's because their recent ancestors were European born, mostly Portuguese, so why cannot Welsh Patagonians have the same rights, for similar reasons?

The below quote from the aforementioned book may make a Patriotic heart beat fast and loud, the cemetery referred to is of course part of an Argentinian 'Nation building' scheme of things. However, within there is no room for the native peoples who were doomed to be vanquished in the 'Conquest of the Desert' which included much of Patagonia, not least Chubut where the Welsh Colonisers had settled (1865) and where the Native peoples were to make their last stand on 18 October 1884. Interestingly enough two years before Geronimo and the Apache in 1886, in an almost similar war, and for similar reasons.

For this reason, I think it is pertinent that whilst I place in this post an appeal to support the two Welsh Patagonian girls, I also include information on the history of the last struggle of the Native peoples. Indeed how can the Welsh not be sympathetic but we do tend to have tunnel vision and avoid such matters when ever discussing the Welsh Colonisers in Chubut. After all they as other European settlers were all part and parcel of the grand plan to make Argentina a 'European Nation' at the expense of the native peoples.

I do not think this is a case of the Welsh having any 'blood on their hands' as many white, inc Welsh settlers did in the conquest and colonisation of the North American west. But let us at least start to perhaps consider a few ''Home Truths'', there are plenty of Welsh Patriots out there who will be outraged by the Israeli Conquest & Colonisation of Palestine but fear to put Welsh Colonisation of Chubut too much under the telescope (that's not a good comparison I know but maybe it's got your attention). Myself, am pretty ignorant of the subject and will have to study up on to seek an history that has been perhaps much hidden, I do not know but I feel it is of need to prompt patriots to take a deeper look.

Patagonia Appeal for Support

Cyfeillion/Friends,Following the refusal by the Border Agency to grant 6-month visas to two Patagonian girls earlier this year, their cases are proceeding separately. This week Shirley Edwards, who has relations resident in the UK, was granted a visa after a long campaign by her family.

As for the other girl, Evelyn Calcabrini, her case will probably have to go to appeal. We ask for your help to show the Border Agency that there is no shortage ofpeople in Wales who will vouch for her by letter. This is onlynecessary because the Border Agency is acting in a way that defies commonsense. We need to show them that there is support for Evelyn,otherwise we fear that there is little hope as she has no relatives in the UK to speak up on her behalf.

Evelyn is a 20 year old whose father has passed away, whose mother is acleaner and who is from a poor and decent Welsh family (like her forebearswho came from Wales in 1865). Of course she has no assets or property in Argentina -what 20 year old anywhere does?! But she has a good job, as her employer hasattested, and lives at home with her mother and sister. She just wants to improve her Welsh language skills here in Wales.

At Heathrow Airport she was treated virtually as a criminal; by the factthat no one made it clear to her for some considerable period of time whyshe was being detained, by the fact that she was given no opportunity to liedown and rest after an all night flight from South America, by the fact thatshe was terrified by the hostile nature of the Border Agency's questioning,by not being given the opportunity to contact anyone (including her embassyand her sponsor) for a period of almost 5 hours - and then only on thecondition that she could pay for a phone call with British coins, and by thefact that her luggage was searched and contents removed without eitherinforming her or seeking her permission. She was unceremoniously put on the next plane back to Argentina having spent all her savings on the flight to the UK.

Afterthought: Some where at back of my mind is a memory of being told that the Welsh of Patagonia had a good record as to treatment of the native peoples. That they often protected by hiding them from Argentinia Troops and police. Whatever, subject for some one to start up a a discussion and debate on in a forum perhaps.
