ENGLISH LORDS & Why Not?

There was a time when the slightest mention of England's House of Lords would have had many Nationalists gnashing their teeth and reduce Welsh Republican stalwarts to radical frenzy. However, no more, it seems not a whimper of patriotic protest from any quarter of PLAID, not even from their ''Glorious 18'' who voted against a pact with Labour. Interesting that, does it tell us something about these possible/probable latter day ''Hydro-ists'', perhaps a pact with English Privilege is more preferable to a pact with Welsh Labour Privilege down in Bae Caerdydd? HHHhhhmmm?. think on that! Whatever, I might be wrong, perhaps there are rumblings of discontent within PLAID ''Nationalism/Republicanism/Socialism'' and I just cannot hear it. Same regards our ''Welsh Republican Stalwarts'', not a whisper of discontent, Discussion and Debate on this deplorable piece of post Devolution Dilettantism, not from Cymru Rydd, Balchder Cymru nor Sion's ''Macywiaid Annwfan'' the future? (Sigh!). As for the Old Brigade/Legion of the Rearguard ''Republican Nationalists'' that came out of WRM II & III to reappear in Cymdeithas Cyfamod and produced radical nationalist journals as Y Cyfamodwr (illustrated here), no comment? Indeed you are more likly to catch all these ''Retro/Romantic Republicans'' telling tall tales over their pints at Cilmeri and parading in 'Tartan Taff' Dewi Day Parade than ever considering RADICAL REPUBLICAN ROCK & ROLL!!!!! So why should I be bothered? Increasingly I am going over to Anarchist/Autonomous ideas, and so to be somewhat ''Bolshy'' (where is the PLAID hard Left on this issue?) my thoughts on all this English House of Lords business, I simplify with the below illustrated comment:

The Teddy Bear is meant to kind of symbolise how soft and cuddly Post Devolution Welsh Politics has become, making it so easy for Dilettantes to advance themselves into positions of power and influence over Welsh Life. I put the blame for much of this at the door of 50 odd years of the dominating influences of ''Cultural Nationalism'' which has led to, lets face it CRACHDOM RULES!, all the rest is just bluff to blind ''Crach Fodder'' Patriotism. This is a matter I will deal with again. right now lets get back to the matter most on my mind, this English House of Lords business and to ask the question; are Welsh Nationalists so bloody dumb as to believe the 'Crach Crap' PLAID puts out as to why there is need to send the likes of Wigley et al to join the patronising privileged prats there? If this is truelly, so! then that's it fin! Roll over and surrender, you are joining in on selling out our National Sovereignty. THUS I MUST OF NECESSITY REMIND ALL OF A, FOR REAL RADICAL REPUBLICAN MIND OF THE FOLLOWING WELSH REPUBLICAN BASICS:

Many might think that I am anti - Welsh Republican, because I ''Bitch'' so much about Welsh Republican elements and factions, as CR & BC or fantasists as the self styled ''Welsh Republican Army'' and the fanciful invention of ''Sion'' with his MACYWIAID ANNWFAN - The Future?. This is not true, I admired the early Welsh Republicanism of WRM I, and the WRM's of ap Siencyn & ap Sion, to a point! personally I consider the Welsh Socialist Republican Movement to have been the best Welsh Republican endevour, although I did not appreciate this at the time. At moment, Cymru Rydd ''Republicanism'' has ditched which leaves BC ''Republicanism'', as good as BC might aspire to be a ''Political Consciousness Movement'', I cannot for one moment see them as being truelly Welsh Republican. I am sure this is an easy tag for them to adopt to impress the Irish & Scottish Republicanism they aspire to, to some degree, I just cannot take BC serious in that ''WR'' area. This leaves me to see only Y REPWBLIC of David Lawrence as the best politically informed and intelligent Welsh Republican Initiative in these times, I would urge all of real radical political Welsh Republican mind to support developments in this direction. This REPWBLIC INITIATIVE has excellent philosophical and theoretical basis which would be good foundations to build on, but hopefully not rushing to set up yet another possibly doomned ''Welsh Republican Movement''. I suggest they stick to the forum that REPWBLIC has set up but other than that, I suggest organise outings of Welsh Republican Interest as to Abergwuan to commemorate a 'Welsh Republic Day' on 22 Chwefror (1797) combined maybe with journey to Ireland to visit the 1798 Rising Centre.

You can visit the Cofeb 1797 via Llanwnda Church, then go on to grave of 18th Century Radical Dissident Henry Davies in cemetary opposite Fishguard Library.

After, back into town square to the Royal Oak for a drink and meal and some Republican discussion, constituting perhaps there a 22 Chwefror Welsh Republican Club. I suggest the first of such Republican Clubs as first step going beyond web forum, an idea to think about maybe!

On visiting Abergwuan and perhaps the 1798 Rising Centre in Ireland, hopefully consider why in 1797 the Welsh did not rise up as the Irish did in 1798. This is the first step towards getting real about Welsh Republicanism, perhaps over romanticised by Harri Web in the fifthties before he went on to romanticise Llywelyn and Glyndwr. Nothing wrong with Romanticism, I romanticise all the time about much to do with our history but at same time politically, I have my mind firmly exploring realities. I hope however, I serve purpose of pointing patriots towards some political enquiry and thinking that leads to radical action, not just commemoration and celebration. Such is not an end in itself but part of a programme of AGIT - PROP ACTION! Following a Welsh Republican Visit to Abergwuan, later in the year visit the Caerffili memorial for 18/19th century Welsh Radical David Williams. This I suggest be an import annual Welsh Republican commemorative gathering (on or near to 29 June) , certainly for Welsh Republicans more important that Cilmeri Commemoration? Perhaps one day in due course a WELSH REPUBLICAN CONVENTION/CONGRESS may be established here in association with this event as first step towards re-establishing a Welsh Republican Movement or maybe Welsh Republican Party? or perhaps a WELSH REPUBLICAN FRONT?

Note, there is a Tafarn with Car Park close to Memorial and Railings. From there it is a short walk to site of Ty Dr Richard Price. Surely the whole subject could be made a local Heritage Lottery Fund Project, consider! Today Welsh Republicans do have to take aboard fact that 18/19th Century Welsh radicals/republicans as David Williams and Richard Price, also Morgan John Rhys and even Iolo Morgannwg were ''British/English Republicans'', and today would be what I describe as ''Guardianesque Republicans'' perhaps. or maybe just for starters at least make a Welsh Republican Tri-Colour Flag as I have done and pictured above, that would be a good start away from the talking alone? Welsh Republicans may then be ready for some Flag Protest Action!!! even carrying such on Parades is a worth while Agit - Prop Action, to at least promote Welsh Republicanism. C'mon it's not the hardest of flags to make, is it?
