From Garreg Wasted 1797 to opening of the Assembly of Appeasement with English Imperialism 2005, on to Caerffili for ceremony of 29 - 07 - 2007...........new beginnings for Welsh Republicanism.
In the wake of Cymru Rydd's announcement that they would disband the only registered political party advocating a Welsh Republic and join - or rejoin - Plaid Cymru as a pressure group, other Welsh republicans debated the future and the past and chose to set up "repwblic.org". A few people were invited to Caerphilly on Sunday 29 July 2007 to meet with Gethin Gruffydd who wanted to present David B Lawrence with the Trilliw that he has been using in recent years in publicising Welsh republicanism. In a brief ceremony in front of the David Williams' memorial upon which the crossed flags of 1792 and 1949 were erected - the classical red, white and green Trilliw and the Welsh Republican Movement's green, red and white Trilliw - David B Lawrence, on behalf of repwblic.org and the rest of the Welsh republican movement, accepted the keeping of the flag and made the public affirmation :
"We hereby pledge ourselves to this flag As the symbol of the Welsh Republic That we shall stand for the Truth against the World: That all nations are born of one people That all laws are born of one justice - and That all freedoms are born of one peace"............. "A Oes Heddwch ?"-" Heddwch ! " "A Oes Heddwch ?" - " Heddwch ! " "A Oes Heddwch ?" - " Heddwch ! "
The David Williams memorial in park named in his honour, hopefully hence venue of an annual Republican Congress and Rally on anniversary of the death of David Williams 29 June 1816. I would also propose for consideration by the new Welsh Republican platform that all who come to support the advance of a new Internationalist Welsh Republicanism seek to establish in their own regions Welsh Republican Clubs named after Republican and Radical Dissidents in Welsh History. As example a David Williams Republican Club be most suitably founded to serve Welsh Republicans in the area of Caerffili perhaps best based on boundaries of Political Constituency? Others might make different suggestions, whatever the main purpose of such clubs being places in which Republicans may meet weekly or monthly to politically educate themselves in readings, discussion and debate as well organise other Republican events and campaigns.
