Unfortunatly Wales was to turn it's face away from Revolution, the Welsh turned their back on the opportunity of French help, thus our 1797 is a bit patriotically pathetic compared to Ireland 1798. This in mind, nevertheless 22 February 1797 is a Welsh Republic Day that never was but all the same why not commemorate the French Landings not as an Invasion but more a lost opportunity. Worthy of celebrating with a visit to Garreg Wasted, placing of flowers on grave in Abergwuan, of Dissident Henry Davies victimised in aftermath of the French landing for his radical ideals and sympathies. Final photo below is of the Royal Oak in which the French surrendered, good for meal and drink of French wine and toast of ''up the republic''.The link below will take you to a local Fishguard version of the events of 1797, do compare via link at bottem, with the events in Ireland during 1798. I would also suggest that possibly you tie in your trip to Abergwuan in February with a continuation on to Ireland to visit there, the National 1798 Visitors Centre which will provide you with much to think about.
