Mike Petersen and Toni Lewis* were with Mark Roberts - Lord of Trelleck, founding members in 2001 of the MILTARY AND HOSPITALLER ORDER OF SAINT DAVID. At this first meeting it was proposed that the ''Cilt Cymru'' be costume dress of ''the order'' and that the ''Anglican'' Yellow Cross (the heretics Cross of Redemption) of Saint David be part of the regalia of MHOSD. It's Wales, so it's not ''The Men behind the Wire'' but rather pathetically ''The Men Behind the Cilts'', sadly supported by many ''Patriotic Poodles'', and some should really know better? * Introduction: Toni Lewis (RIP) was my old friend and comrade of many years, and with myself co - founded the PATRIOTIC FRONT (see http://awnms.blogspot.com), it was Toni who provided me with much information on the MHOSD. Shortly after Toni returned from Isle of Man, he was approached by Mark Roberts - ''Lord of Trelleck'' with proposals regards setting up of the MHOSD, It was at this time Toni showed me an impressively produced prospectus which outlined the constitution, objective and aims of ''THE ORDER'', at this point I saw nothing to particularly put me off the idea. Toni had himself as far back as the 60's come up with idea of an 'Order of Saint David' complete with regalia, banners and badges which many of us know was Toni's greatest passion and most major contribution to our cause. Toni was really taken up by Marks proposals and why not, was my oppinion then, and was happy to see that Toni had found a like mind to go forward with an idea he had long cherished himself. I in these years was busy with Embassy Glyndwr (www.embassy-glyndwr.co.uk) work and had little active interest in ''THE ORDER'' and Toni's work in this area, from time to time he would tell me of trips to participate in ceremonies of other similar ''ORDERS'' Mark was involved in, and Toni showed me designs for badges and other items of regalia he was designing and making for ''THE ORDER''. It was all making Toni very happy, at a time in life when he was very ill and sadly not far away from dieing. Up to 2004, I think I had met Mark Roberts twice, and became aware that he also had interests regards our 'lost border lands' (Blaenau Diroedd) and saw that there was no need to reognise the ''ACTS OF ANNEXATION'', these were ideas that were also greatly proposed by Eurig ap Gwylim (RIP), a founder member of Cofiwn (http://Cofiwn.blogspot.com) with Toni and I. So, not suprisingly Toni and I were sympathetic to Mark taking these ideas much further, I believe there is an article in EIN GWLAD Magazine outling Marks ideas in this latter direction. However, in time I began to feel a bit put off ''THE ORDER'', with which note, I had no active interest other than discuss with Toni and in time argueing with him, regards certain matters which worried me. A television and other publicity on Marks business dealings regards the buying up of ''feudal land rights'', and how he made huge sums out of such (See Paul Flyn MP and others on the Web) give me cause for concern. On Toni's death, his 'Political Archive' came into my possession, amongst which was a folder on ''THE ORDER'' containing numerous notes and papers, constitution and minutes of meetings, reading this material, I then became very weary of ''THE ORDER''. A number of things in particular gave me grave cause for concern, firstly as stated in their minutes, it seemed that ''THE ORDER'' was to be a rather ''secretive affair''. The minutes also indicated that not only that, but it was also to be a particularly ''exclusive affair'', in main a body open only to the ''powerfull'', ''influential'', ''rich'' and ''famous (aka Celebrities)''. OK! so what? sure if ''THE ORDER'' was to stick to doing good ''Christian Charitable Work'' and handing out medals, then nothing wrong in that but I began to have doubts, if it was to be just that? Toni at one point had told me, that at a party (Place known to me), of it seems mainly of their members or supporters (some named as present), there was talk of ''THE ORDER'' being a ''nationalist body'' that would also penetrate Plaid Cymru, to make of it, more of a ''Nationalist Movment'' again. This did not bother me really, as I thought that maybe a good thing, with the way Plaid Cymru was selling out on Independence, but in time this ''loose talk'' (and it might be, just that?) came back to my mind as I began to witness the growing associations?/connections?/links? (call it what you may) of ''THE ORDER'' with CAMBRIA MAGAZINE in the ''Cilting up of Cymru''. One might deem to consider all this no more than some latter day ''Victorian Style Fantasy'' in desire to establish an almost ''mysterious masonary'', that in reality serves in main to carry out the ''CILTING OF CYMRU'', as a form of ''Pseudo & Phoney Partriotism'' or just profitable commercial business dealings or it may be an ''ultra - truistic'' attempt to establish similar to what exists in other countries, as Scotland (see Order of Saint Andrew etc on Web). However, politically, I am gravely concerned that there exists a ''semi - secret society'' with possibly also an almost ''masonic mission'' to not only make money for ''charity?'' (Cilts & Regalia do not come cheap) but also may attempt to influence the Nationalist Movement, Cause and Struggle, other than that being supposedly carried out by Plaid Cymru (See Cilmeri Connections http://anturysbrydcofiwn.blogspot.com) It is at this point my attention turns to the annual Cambria Magazine initiated Saint David's Day Parade in Caerdydd, in main because I am not at all sympathetic to it's promotion of ''Cilts and Crosses'', and certainly out of sympathy following on the ''Message of Treachery'', the Parade organisers sent at conclusion of their 2006 parade, to the SHAM SENEDD in Bae Caerdydd. (see http://adfywiad.blogspot.com). You might think, I have a political axe to grind, and you would be right, but I have and some of the reasons too, which will be made clear below:
Many Nationalists were perturbed by all the “Cilts and Crosses” that appeared on the recent 2007 Cambria Magazine St David’s Day Parade in Cardiff. Prominent were masses of the "Anglican" 'Yellow Crosses of Saint David' and White Crosses of Saint Pirran of Cornwall. So what's up with all these ''Crosses'' carried by ''Cymry in Cilts?'', for history of ''Cymry in Cilts'', search out on the Web for John Wake, Swansea and Cardiff Business man, former Cardiff Police Detective and for some years a ''Welsh Tourism Guru'' and now a major player in the promotion of Swansea tourism (See via web article on Mr Wake, in the South Wales Evening Post 3 March 07). Further of interest will be fact that Mr John Wake is also responsible for a renewed contemporary promotion of the 'Cross of Saint David' as part of regalia for his ''Cilts Cymru'' (Search out Welsh Kilts/Tartan Centre on Web) and is keenly involved in promotion of the 'Cross of Saint David' flag. Further, very relevant, if you stretch yourself a bit, intellectually and historically, you may see a connection with John Wake's interest in all this , with his other great patriotic passionate historical Interest in King Arthur, and yes, the ''Myth of Britain'' which we could well do without (Unfortunatly King Arthur, is by now Anglo - Post 1536 Tudor/Cambro ''Brit'' contaminated as Leeks and Daffodils etc, being of no service or use to a Welsh Nationalist Cause and Struggle). Aiding, assisting and perhaps abetting in promotion of ''Cilts Cymry'' and the 'Cross of Saint David' are the MILTARY AND HOSPITALLER ORDER OF SAINT DAVID and CAMBRIA MAGAZINE. Cambria Magazine Editor Henry Jones Davies is also an early member'' of the MHOSD, and certainly was at their second founding meeting in November of 2001. This rather ''secretive'', almost ''Masonic'' society, at it's first founding meeting in September 2001, had voted to adopt the ''Cilt Cymry'' as its ''Costume Dress Uniform'' along with use of the 'Cross of Saint David' as part of MHOSD regalia. At the second founders meeting Mark Roberts and Henry Jones Davies were appointed as members of this rather ''secretive society'' to advance the ''Cilts and Cross Regalia'' idea as presented by Mark Roberts to this meeting, with actual show of the intended costume. I presume this was done with the Tartan Centre being taken aboard as supplier at cost, of course? interestingly Cambria Magazine shared a stall with the Tartan Centre at the 2004 Eisteddfod Casnewydd (see photo below) . I am not sure if the 'Tartan Centre Business' sponsors with Cambria, the annual Saint David's Day parade in Caerdydd, but they do sponsor Adam Phillips of Balchder Cymru (see their website), newly formed 'Cambria Band' boasting to be the first ever ''Kilted Band'' in Wales? Not so, as no doubt a Scots Kilted Band led England's ''Highlander mercenaries'' into Merthyr Tudful on the 3 June 1831, to later shoot and kill over 28 Workers and people in an event known in our radical patriotic history as ''BLOODY FRIDAY''. Tramp! Tramp! Tramp! the boys are marching, Bang! Bang! Bang! goes the Drums, but whose calling the tune?
What is not clear, is if John Wake was still in ownership of this ''Tartan enterprise'' at this time for, it is about this time that John Wake sold off his great ''Tartan Taff'' initative to fellow Swansea Business man Tony Collins who now, presumably, is responsible for this unfortunate ''phony & pseudo'' patriotic enterprise with shops in Cardiff, Swansea and outlets in America. Returning briefly, to the annual 'Dydd Dewi Day'' parade in Caerdydd. Unfortunatly it is also rather foolishly supported by Radical Nationalist - Patriots, who should know better, along with, and not unexpectedly, a number of the ''usual suspects'' that perceive themselves as old and new, retro and romantic ''Welsh Republicans''. Most will know who they are but, perhaps not so the ''new boys on the block'', formerly 'Balchder Cymru' but now also filling in as the CAMBRIA BAND'. Whether or not they are linked in and well connected with all of the above? but name of the band and the fact that they are ''Cilted up'' perhaps says everything? However, none of this is anyway a ''criminal concern'' nor am I suggesting anything in the nature that might be definatly ''conspiritol'' for reasons unknown but I suggest there is an edge of much that is ''Exclusive'' and not ''Inclusive''. Certainly with out doubt the ''Cilting of Cymru'' has more to do with commercialism than the advancement of the cause of Welsh Freedom, at end of the day. Nationalists who percieve such to be part of a struggle for Welsh Freedom are indeed decieving themselves and are being let Pied Pipers and their ''pet poodles'' leading nationalists up a blind ally, led my men in ''Cilts'' to pose, posture and pretend with their ''Phoney & Speudo Patriotism annually on the steps of the ''British'' National Museum of Wales. A Post Devolution Dilettante Distraction for the easily Duped, who no longer have a cause to struggle for, now that the political issue of ''Welsh Independence'' has been kicked into touch. The question begs to be asked, just why is no one marching for the Independence of Wales?

So, Patriots and particularly those few who perceive of themselves as radical nationalists, wake up and stop being such post Devolution ''Duped Dummies''. Does it not kind of enter into your mind that given the fact that Embassy Glyndwr has been so successful in resurrecting 'Baner Glyndwr' and popularizing it's use amongst individuals and numerous institutions etc, that now promotion of the 'Yellow Cross' is counter productive to say the very least. So, Think what you are doing compatriots?

At most nationalist events, even at the aforementioned 'Dydd Dewi' parade, 'Baner Glyndwr' is now seen more than Y Ddraig Goch! Then along comes this huge promotion of 'Baner Dewi'! If I was ''paranoid'' and believed in ''conspiracy theories'' (which I do from time to time), I would say that it's done on purpose. Why? well! you cannot get Four Lions on the Union Jack but you can get the Cross of Saint David on a Union Jack, and it does seem that side by side with the huge promotion of this 'Cross of Saint David' are calls for it to go on the Union Jack? Impossible! Perhaps not, If a future un popular ''King Carlo'' needs to keep his ''Welsh Subjects'' loyal and, of course, always well pacified! he may indulge the wishes of the ''Uncle Taffies'' by adding the ''Dewi Cross'' to the Union Jack. A final comment on this, there is no doubt as to where Mr. Wake got his ''Cilts Cymry'' idea from; yes of course, from Scotland. Now check out Sir Walter Scot and the re - Invention of a 19th century post Jacobite Scottish Patriotism, complete with Kilt that was also easy to accommodate with ''BRITISHNESS''. C'mon Cymry wake up! Don’t be so easily fooled by the ''Devolution Dilettantes'', the choice is simple are you to march behind the dodgy 'Cross of Saint David', perhaps in a ''Cilt'' or will you march behind 'Baner Glyndwr' in Achos Cenedl Glyndwr - Cenedl Cymru Rydd?

That simple, choice is yours. March for an ''Augustine Saint'' or March for a Warrior, that sought our Freedom.

Footnote: John Wake first came to my attention via his radio interviews regards his Cardiff Tourism Bus initiative, pity he did not stick to that and not embark on this ''NAFF TAFF - CILT CYMRU'' business. I later met Mr Wake, when the sponsors of 'Cleddyf y Genedl' had invited him to be 'MC' at unvieling of 'The Sword of the Nation' at Castell Caerdydd early in 2004. I have since become aware that Mr Wake had some years previous been involved with the ''Priest of Pennal'' in promotion of an ''ATHURIAN INITIATIVE'' for Wales, which came to nothing but I notice that in recent times Cambria Magazine has gone big on Arthur and all that? via the writtings of an editorial Staff Member,Robert Hinton (not yet a ''Cilted One???).

Afterthoughts: Interestingly, I believe Dan Brown's new book is to be on theme of a secret masonic society and it's attempt to influnce politics in Washington. Whilst in this area of ''Illumaniti Conspiracies'', search on web/Wikapedia for material on the Italian P2 Masonic Lodge Conspiracy, fascinating stuff about ''Orders with a Mission''. I am not totally OTT re conspiracy theories, nor am I anti - Catholic (see my writtings on WASPism) but I note the Catholic Archbishop and the ''Priests of Pencoed'' marching for Dewi, and standing on steps of the ''Brit'' National Museum of Wales, leads me on to think about OPUS DEI, and with all these Christian Crosses fluttering over Wales plus recently formed WELSH CHRISTIAN PARTY, calling for the ''Pagan Dragon Flag'' to be replaced by the 'Yellow Cross' of Saint David. Makes one think!
