200th ANNIVERSARY OF SOUTH AMERICA's WARS OF NATIONAL LIBERATION 1810 - 1830 - 2010

.

.

The story of an epic struggle to free the newly emerging countries of South America from Spanish and Portugese rule, a story very much about seven great patriot freedom fighters; Francisco de Miranda, Simon Bolivar, San Martin, Bernado O' Higgins and Admiral Lord Cochrane, Francisco Iturbide and Crown Prince Pedro of Portugal. So there, that's an Irishman and a Scotsman up front amongst the 'Magnificent Seven' but where were the Welsh? Don't worry folks quite a few fighting on side with the British/Irish Legion allied to the Army of Simon Bolivar in the struggle to liberate Venezuela. Further information on these post Napoleonic War Vets turned Mercenaries in due course, in future posts. Of course, this was not a struggle to liberative the native peoples of South America, despite a number of failed revolts against the Conquisidores and their descendants we witness a native revival in Venuzuela and Bolivia in present times. Struggles we need to support! see below for further information:

CAYO EVANS TRIBUTE BOOK: Presentation of draft to Dalis Cayo Evans by Gethin Gruffydd representing AWNM&S History Archive.

.
The idea being, to have this published by 2011 the latest, content of this tribute book will be many tributes made to Cayo at his funeral and later, news cuttings relating to the FWA and FWA trial 1969, Cayo and his death also poems and other items. All very interesting and worthy project but hardly likely to get a grant or be published by a Welsh Publisher, and so it may have to be done via subscription and donation. So who is up for that? if you, then contact Plant Cayo at Glandenys, Silian, Llanbedr Pont Steffan, Ceredigion, Cymru. See fotos below:

A WELSH MILITARY LIVING HISTORY REENACTMENT SOCIETY: Would an FWA one be permissable?

.
If it is permissible to have in existence such societies for any number of Military bodies, why not the FWA? If the only rule of play seems to be that history is well past and does not imitate present day armies then the FWA meets the rule. For the FWA and it's war came to an end on 1 July 1969 with it's Commandants signing a 'Treaty of Surrender', then maybe it's ok! to set up an FWA WMLHS.
