The story of an epic struggle to free the newly emerging countries of South America from Spanish and Portugese rule, a story very much about seven great patriot freedom fighters; Francisco de Miranda, Simon Bolivar, San Martin, Bernado O' Higgins and Admiral Lord Cochrane, Francisco Iturbide and Crown Prince Pedro of Portugal. So there, that's an Irishman and a Scotsman up front amongst the 'Magnificent Seven' but where were the Welsh? Don't worry folks quite a few fighting on side with the British/Irish Legion allied to the Army of Simon Bolivar in the struggle to liberate Venezuela. Of course, this was not a struggle to liberative the native peoples of South America, despite a number of failed revolts against the Conquisidores and their descendants we witness a native revival in Venuzuela and Bolivia in present times.
